Data CoLAB on the jury of the national BfK Ideas competition

Data CoLAB attended the event "Innovation and Technological Valorization towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", promoted by the National Innovation Agency (ANI).

The event was part of the celebrations of 30 years of innovation agencies in Portugal and brought together participants from the National Scientific and Technological System.

It was held as part of the annual meetings of the Collaborative Laboratories (CoLAB), the Technology and Innovation Centers (CTI) and the Technology Transfer Offices (TTO), and also included the national BfK Ideas competition, which featured pitch sessions from each team in the "Health, Biotechnology and Food", "Green Transition" and "Digital Transition" categories. Nuno Malta, Data CoLAB's Director of Management and Finance, was on the semi-final jury for the "Digital Transition" category.

The event's program also included sessions for TTOs. "The response of research and knowledge transfer to the challenges of the SDGs: Best practices in Portuguese Higher Education Institutions" was the central theme of the debate. The CTIs debated "The response of research and knowledge transfer to the challenges of the SDGs: Best practices and success stories".

For their part, the CoLABs were able to take part in the discussion on the role of Research and Technology in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals.

There was also time to explore the "sustainable financing opportunities", in a session attended by members of the European Commission, CCDR Alentejo, ILLIANCE - Energy Efficiency, InsectERA - the age of insect industry and ANI.

The day was rounded off with a speech by Jerry Sheehan, Director for Science, Technology, and Innovation at the OECD.

The event took place on November 16 at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Museu de Ciência Viva, in Lisbon.
